Our Stories
Rohit
On February 7, 2026, Rohit was admitted for a critical Tendon Injury Repair. At age of 58, maintaining mobility is vital for independence, but requiring complex orthopedic surgery while in another state added a layer of logistical and financial stress.
Precision Surgery: Expert orthopedic intervention to repair the damaged tendon.
Compassionate Support: A nursing staff that bridged the gap of being away from family with kindness and constant care.
Expert Guidance: Doctors who not only performed the surgery with clinical excellence but took the time to explain the recovery process to a patient far from home.
Neha Devi
On January 17, 2026, Neha Devi was admitted for specialized urological intervention. The diagnosis required a complex procedure: PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) combined with DJ Stenting. While the medical necessity was clear, the cost of a treatment was a significant burden for her family.
Cashless Treatment: The entire package cost of nearly ₹60,000 was covered.
Zero Financial Burden: Her family could focus entirely on her recovery rather than the hospital bill.
Quality Healthcare: Access to advanced surgical procedures that were previously out of reach. I am immensely grateful to the Government of India. Without Ayushman Bharat, getting this surgery would have been a dream. It has given me my health back without taking away my family’s savings.” — Nishu Devi
Nishu’s successful recovery is also a testament to the hospital’s dedication. The medical team provided:
Professionalism: Seamless coordination from admission to the procedure.
Reliability: High-end surgical care with a human touch.
Better Outcomes: A smooth, successful surgery that has allowed her to return to her daily life.
Nishu Devi’s story is a shining example of how visionary governance and reliable healthcare providers work hand-in-hand to ensure that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
Rajan
The story of Rajan, a young patient who had been silently battling a severe, long-standing infection, serves as a powerful reminder of how the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides a crucial lifeline for complex, chronic illnesses.
It was estimated that this serious infection had been undiagnosed for a very long time—approximately 5 to 6 years. The disease had silently destroyed the function of the kidney over years, masked by the symptoms of pain and obstruction.
Thanks to the prompt surgery covered by Ayushman Bharat, the source of chronic infection was removed. Now, Karan is receiving the necessary follow-up care, which includes Anti-Tubercular Therapy (ATT).
Diagnosis: Non-functioning kidney due to Renal Tuberculosis
Life-Saving Intervention: Open Nephrectomy (Completely Free under Ayushman Bharat)
Outcome: Source of infection removed, now on curative ATT.
Current Status: Patient is recovering well.
Rajan’s journey underscores the dual benefit of AB-PMJAY: it not only finances immediate life-saving surgeries but also enables patients to receive comprehensive care that leads to accurate diagnoses of long-term diseases like TB. Without the scheme, the financial burden of the surgery and the subsequent long-term TB treatment would have been overwhelming.
Karan is now on the path to full health, a testament to the fact that Ayushman Bharat is safeguarding the health and financial well-being of millions of families across India.
Pallavi Devi
The story of Pallavi, a 48-year-old woman, is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Facing a serious health crisis, Pallavi received timely, quality, and completely free treatment, showcasing the scheme’s true potential.
On an emergency basis, Pallavi Devi was admitted to the Gurdevi Memorial Super Speciality Hospital, a facility empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. There, expert surgeons performed a crucial operation: a right open nephrectomy.
Admission Date: 18/11/2025 Discharge Date: 24/11/2025
Procedure: Right Open Nephrectomy (Removal of the non-functioning kidney) The most significant part of Pushpa Devi’s journey is the complete financial coverage provided by her Ayushman C ard.
Treatment Cost: Totally Free of Cost, Quality of Care: Received at a Super Speciality Hospital, Financial Relief: Absolutely ₹0 out-of-pocket expenses
Pushpa Devi remained in the hospital from November 18, 2025, until her stable discharge on November 24, 2025. Thanks to the comprehensive coverage of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, she was able to focus entirely on her recovery without the crippling stress of medical bills.
Today, a healthy and relieved Pushpa Devi stands as a shining example of the scheme’s success. I am immensely thankful to the Ayushman Bharat Yojna for ensuring I received quality free-of-cost treatment. Without this scheme, I don’t know how my family would have managed the expense of a major surgery. This Yojana truly is a blessing for the common people.”
Pallavi Devi’s successful surgery and recovery highlight how the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is consistently achieving its goal: to provide affordable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare to every eligible citizen, turning moments of crisis into stories of hope and recovery.
Mohan
This is the incredible journey of Mohan, who successfully battled advanced kidney and ureter cancer thanks to the expert medical care and the lifesaving support of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Mohan was diagnosed with a formidable, advance-stage cancer involving both his kidney and ureter.
Massive Tumor Size: The tumor measured over 12 cm.
Critical Location: The cancerous mass was dangerously abutting the whole length of the Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)—the body’s largest vein, which carries deoxygenated blood back to the heart. This proximity made the surgery immensely complex and high-risk.
To achieve a complete cure, Mohan required an extensive and technically demanding surgery in a single sitting:
1. Nephroureterectomy with Bladder Cuff Removal: The radical removal of the diseased kidney, its corresponding ureter, and a cuff of the bladder to ensure all cancerous tissue was excised.
2. Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection (RPLND): A meticulous procedure to remove lymph nodes in the retroperitoneum (the area behind the abdominal cavity) to stage the cancer and prevent further spread.
Despite the massive tumor size and the inherent risks of operating near the IVC, the surgical team achieved an outstanding result. Mohan was successfully treated and, remarkably, was discharged without even a wound complication. This smooth recovery from such a major, life-threatening surgery is a testament to the skill and precision of the medical professionals involved.
Crucially, the entire, complex, and expensive treatment—from diagnosis to discharge—was rendered TOTALLY FREE OF COST under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Mohan’s Success: “Facing an advanced cancer diagnosis with such a large and dangerous tumor was terrifying. But because of Ayushman Bharat, I received the highest level of care and the most complicated surgery without having to spend a single rupee. This scheme didn’t just save my life; it saved my family from financial ruin. I am eternally grateful.”
Mohan’s story stands as a powerful example of how the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is delivering on its promise, providing access to cutting-edge, complex surgical oncology for every citizen, guaranteeing that financial barriers never stand in the way of a chance at life.
Shruti
Shruti had recently undergone an abdominal hysterectomy at an outside hospital. However, her recovery took a catastrophic turn. She developed no urine output for 48 hours, and her renal function was deteriorating rapidly, with her Creatinine levels soaring to a dangerously high 12 mg/dL. This signaled acute kidney failure.
Upon admission, the medical team immediately recognized the severity of the situation.
Emergency Intervention: Shabana underwent an urgent session of dialysis to stabilize her critical condition and buy time for a definitive diagnosis.
The Diagnosis: A subsequent CT scan revealed the devastating cause: Bilateral Ureteric Injury/Ligation—the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder had been accidentally damaged or tied off during the previous surgery. With time of the essence, Shabana was taken into surgery the very next day. A highly complex, 4-hour surgery was performed:
Procedure: Right Ureteric Reimplantation with Left Distal Ureterectomy and DJ Stenting.
Result: The moment the delicate repair was completed, Shruti had an immediate start of urine output!

Shruti was discharged on September 26, 2025, in a stable condition with adequate urine output and her kidney function fully restored.
This complex, multi-stage treatment—involving emergency admission, dialysis, advanced imaging (CT Scan), and a four-hour life-saving reconstructive surgery—was completely free of cost for Shabana under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Shruti’s success is a clear demonstration that AB-PMJAY is not just about routine care; it is a financial and health shield for citizens during the most severe, life-threatening medical emergencies, ensuring timely, quality treatment and a return to a healthy life.
Amit
The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) once again proved its mettle by saving the life and preserving the future health of Amit, a patient who faced a dire post-operative emergency. Her story highlights the scheme’s ability to cover critical, time-sensitive interventions.
On September 20, 2025, Amit was rushed to the emergency department of the Ayushman Bharat empanelled hospital.
Upon admission, the medical team immediately recognized the severity of the situation.
Emergency Intervention: Amit underwent an urgent session of dialysis to stabilize her critical condition and buy time for a definitive diagnosis.
The Diagnosis: A subsequent CT scan revealed the devastating cause: Bilateral Ureteric Injury/Ligation—the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder had been accidentally damaged or tied off during the previous surgery.
Jorawar
Jorawar, a 48-year-old man, recently faced a serious medical crisis that required urgent attention. For over two years, he had been living with a retained ureteral stent, which led to a complex medical situation: a severe staghorn calculus (large kidney stone) in his right kidney and a stone that had formed around the retained stent in his bladder.
Jorawar was admitted on 17/11/2025 and, thanks to the successful operation and comprehensive post-operative care, was discharged in a stable condition on 20/11/2025. The most remarkable part of Jorawar’s journey is the seamless, free-of-cost treatment he received. Every aspect of his complex, life-saving surgery and hospital stay was fully covered under his Ayushman Bharat Card. I am profoundly thankful to the Ayushman Bharat Yojna for providing me with such high-quality and completely free-of-cost treatment. This scheme truly transforms lives and ensures that no one has to choose between their health and financial stability.”
Jorawar’s successful treatment is a powerful testament to the impact of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, delivering on its promise of accessible, quality healthcare for all.
